… choose the “portions” which suit you best!
Meet us at Toronto College Street West End YMCA Sundays, 9:00 a.m.
We walk for conversation, fresh air, exercise and to enjoy the city.
In one to two hours, we usually cover six to ten kilometres.
Not to mention covering all sorts of interesting topics,
and seeing intriguing architecture, businesses, cats, dogs,
gorgeous plant life… and even other walkers!
Wear comfortable shoes. Terrain is fairly easy (mostly sidewalks).
Pace is moderate. All are welcome. See you soon!
This week’s update and plan:
Hello patio-fans and brunch-walkers!
Thanks to all who joined us last week for a ramble to and from Queen’s Park. It was a great day for a walk, and lovely to see you.
Let’s celebrate this refreshing summer weather with a patio brunch at High Park on Sunday, August 17.
I hope the whole group can join us.
Some will walk there and back. If you choose to meet us there for brunch only, no problem. Drive (there is parking) or transit and then walk in. Let me know, so we watch for you, and be sure to get a large enough table! We should be there by 10:00. After our early brunch, if anyone prefers to transit home, or even stay in the park awhile, no problem! (Sounds great!)
The park is currently green and beautiful. Let’s enjoy some of that sun and shade. And a tasty (and reasonable) breakfast. If it’s a sunny day, we’ll enjoy the back patio. (Bring a jacket, in case it’s cool?) If it’s rainy or just too cool, let’s sit indoors. (Helps keep the home fries warmer, longer.) Sound good? I look forward to another wonderful walk.
THIS WILL BE A LONGER WALK: to walk there, eat, and walk home may be about three hours. We hope to be back at West End Y by noon. Figure accordingly, if you use alternate transport, or need to be somewhere, sooner. Bring bus fare, if that will help you make it to your other day plans on time. Brunch at the Grenadier is moderately priced, but see the menu to help decide. The French toast is pretty good. Or hmmm, maybe I’ll have a BLT…
Requests for future walks? Interesting explorations? Comment here, or bring your ideas along on Sunday. We are accumulating a great list of destinations.
Coming up soon:
– a walk showing a bit of history of Portuguese immigration to Toronto, and how it shaped our neighbourhood (Thanks, Beth!)
– two walks, over two Sundays, with two different starting points! The Humber River (if we can manage it: at salmon spawning time) (My plan, heartily encouraged by Jan!)
See you in the usual place, Sunday, 9:00 a.m. Bring water.
Invite a friend to join us? Great!
Are you reading about our club for the first time?
Excellent – and welcome! Now that you know where we’re going, please join us!
