Here’s an early note, so I can wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, if you celebrate it. And, if not, a wonderful few days of winter. Let’s definitely get outside together again, this Sunday! Read on:
This past Sunday morning, we were a great group of eight, and we took a brisk walk downtown. Those who walked back had a 14.35 km total trip. Our destination? Again to Brookfield Place, this time to see the “Snowfall” installation created by Studio F Minus. The pieces on display are Frost (one huge snowflake in the main galleria) and Gust (a gorgeous series of hanging smaller snowflakes, in various colours, illuminating the towers main floor hall lobbies). And wow – they are beautiful! Worth a visit before January 5, if you’d like to see them in person. If you don’t make it, they will be back. Apparently, next year, there will be a third part to this series: Flurry, in the Concourse level (I’m just guessing, but I bet it will be even smaller snowflakes and maybe – if we’re lucky – hundreds of them). I can’t wait! We’ll definitely go again, then. We can make the brief cider break in the chilly quad a tradition, too!
And this week’s plan:
Sunday, December 28 2014: Let’s walk down Roncesvalles to the bridge and see the lake.
Several of us headed over there last year on a very, very cold and horribly icy day! We could barely walk on the boardwalk, but we loved it! Not sure there will be much snow or ice or even cool weather this week. The forecast looks very mild. But let’s go look anyway. It’s a beautiful view to share on a post-Christmas weekend morning. Join us! Share stories of Christmas festivities or plans for new year’s fun.
Requests for future walks? Interesting explorations? Comment, or bring your ideas on Sunday. Winter-friendly plans ahead. Another High Park brunch is next on the formal planning agenda, three weeks later. Time will fly! We’d all love to hear your walking suggestions.
See you Sunday – sun or snow! ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄
