Sunday morning’s almost here!
But first, about last week:
We enjoyed a very warm morning walk to High Park. A friendly new walker joined us for good conversation on the way there. Two of us then stayed for brunch in park, enjoying lovely tree-and-umbrella-shade on the sunny back patio at the Grenadier Café. Yes, there was French toast! (You should’ve been there.) An excellent morning. Thanks to all!
Midweek, I had planned to attend the Walkaround (zoom in on that poster photo, above, for contact info at bottom). Sorry I missed that smart-sounding event, but it was a busy week! Hopefully, similar walks will catch on.
On the other hand, having very little indeed to do with walking at all… (or even with picking one’s own local fruit), I made sour cherry sorbet. Highly recommended! (Not that batch, though – sorry! It’s all gone!)
Ah, summer flies past!
This week, on July 18, 2015…
Sunday may be a scorcher! At 30 degrees Celsius, plus humidex, it could be our first really hot, humid summer day. Possible thunderstorms, too. Good times! I think you may want to bring an umbrella. And cold water! In case it is really hot, we’ll walk to two very cool places. The first one is a bit of a hike east, almost to Yonge Street. I won’t say more, but I think we’ll find it refreshing, beautiful and worth the trek. The second stop will be a cool, green paradise, on the way home. A couple of us have already dropped in and found it a lovely escape, surprisingly hidden from the street. Come on along and see what you think.
As always, please feel free to bring a friend!
Coming right up:
We were sad to miss our Island tea party! How can it be a favourite “annual event” when we’ve only attended once?!! So, do expect an Island trip in a few weeks. We deserve it.
We also plan a Thursday evening dinner, with a pleasant walk over to Govinda’s for a delicious buffet. Interested in joining us for that? Let me know and we’ll go on a night that suits several of us. We’ve been talking about this for a while. Summer is a great time to enjoy this!
And later: we’ll follow another LEAF tree-walk plan, take a picnic somewhere interesting, have a special porch celebration, and we hope to take a hike along the Rouge River. Summer? Yahoo!!!!
See you soon!
Are you reading about our club for the first time?
Welcome. You really should walk with us! See you in the morning!
