Winter’s back! ❄

Happy New year! Let’s take our first walk of 2016…

But first…

About last week:

We had wanted to check on the progress of the renovations at One Spadina Crescent, so we headed there, first thing, and walked the entire circle. It’s looking beautiful – can’t wait to see this adaptive re-use when it’s done. I’m eager to see the north end: a grand new landscaped entrance.

Then we walked east to see Aura, up close and personal. I can’t count the number of times I’ve passed this enormous edifice, walking along the sidewalk without ever looking up. It is dizzying! The light strips are not obvious at all, by daylight. I’m considering sending someone a note mentioning how uplifting it might be if they’d turn those rather amazing lights on, during the day, if the sky is grey and the day a bit blah. Will keep you posted on that. 😉 I’ve yet to see the lights from much closer than my own house. Must walk over there, or partway, some cool winter evening.

We walked 9.9 kilometres. Nice.

This Sunday, January 03, 2016:

We shall meet at the Y at 9:00 a.m. Time to add a little more mileage! Last week, we managed that 9.9 km quite easily. Great work! Can we do that again? Of course! I suggest a Liberty Village walk. Up and down each interesting street, to see new construction, and creative re-imagining of the older buildings. Lots of interesting hidden details in that part of town. Let’s have a look.

Coming right up:

A little REQUEST: please consider our upcoming brunch among the trees (and maybe a dusting of snow… if we’re lucky) in High Park. People are often sad to miss the brunch-walks, so let me know WHEN you can join us. We’ll do our best to make it convenient for most! (And if you can’t make it, we’ll plan another one, when you can!) I’m thinking of January or early February. WHAT WORKS FOR YOU?

And, a little Megathon info, just to get you started thinking about it. You can sign up online, and then let me know if you’d like to sign up for the actual March 5 event, at the Y. Yes, I can take care of that for you! Check out these photos for a bit more information. (Click on any pic to see a larger carousel version.)

Next week, if we don’t go for brunch, we’re heading downtown!

Are you reading about our club for the first time?

Welcome. You really should walk with us! See you in the morning!
