More local sculpture
About last week:
We walked 7.6 kilometres. Great work! Our wander around the Liberty Village area brought fresh air, good company, some interesting public sculpture, a chance encounter (!), some daring exploration, and other interesting sights. Plus, the urge to see more public art! Read on…
This Sunday, January 10, 2016:
Meet at the Y at 9:00 a.m. We’ll walk towards Yonge Street to see a couple of new works of public art. One is a bit off the beaten path (we may have to hunt for it). The other piece is smart and contemporary, and is still being installed. Preliminary photos show that it’s mostly pre-constructed, so already looks interesting. Curious? Let’s go! The forecast is warm-ish and rainy. We’re fine with that, right?
Coming right up:
How about next week, January 17, for a brunch walk? High Park? If you haven’t joined us for a walk in a while, we’d be delighted to see you! (And if you’re away, and sorry to miss out on a brunch walk… c’mon home, and we’ll plan the next one together.)
And now, a little Megathon info, again, just to get you considering: maybe you’d like to participate? Visit the website. Sign up online, and then let me know if you’d like to register to participate in the actual March 5 event, at the Y. I can take care of that registration part for you, but you do need to make a page or join our team page, online. That will mean you’ll do a bit of fundraising (you can seek pledges or make a small donation yourself – whatever is comfortable for you). We are now listed as a TEAM – surprisingly, I chose the name WestWalking! Our page is still a work in progress. You may join and/or contribute there… or sign in and organize individually. Either way, lovely. Thanks!
Our final lap of MEGAWalk: Bracebridge or Bust! will occur Saturday, March 5, starting at 1:00 p.m. Last year, we had no trouble walking 10k in two hours. It was an excellent workout, on the lovely indoor track. Let’s do that again! I promise not to carry the silly sign. Mind you, I haven’t been able to make myself throw it out…
See you Sunday!
Are you reading about our club for the first time?
Welcome. You really should walk with us! See you in the morning!
