An artful winter walk, ahead.
But first, about last week:
What better thought, on a bitterly cold day, than this: a pot of tea and a good book? So, off we walked to see a few of our city’s excellent library branches. And to have coffee. Oops! Yes, I said “coffee”! Most of you know I don’t drink the stuff, but… okay… mine was salted caramel latte. (Delicious! So sue me.)
Wearing multiple warm layers (double everything!), we saw six libraries, and a lovely poet, before arriving at our final destination: The 11th annual Strawberry Ceremony, outside Toronto Police Headquarters. Elder Wanda Whitebird officiated, honouring Canada’s missing and murdered Indigenous women and their families. Memories and musical traditions were part of the ceremony. As was connection to earth and water and memory, when everyone ate a fresh strawberry and had a sip of clean water. I took no photos there, though many people did, because I just wanted to take time for reflection and respect.
It was a thoughtful and interesting morning in the bright sun.

More libraries ahead, naturally. If you love our libraries too, our walk reminded me that you might enjoy seeing this.
We totalled 14.7 kilometres on a rather chilly day. Darned good work! We’ll easily reach our goal!
And now, Sunday, February 21, 2016:
You might not have been to TD’s Gallery of Inuit Art. Neither have I. It isn’t widely advertised. And, unless you work way-down-town, you may never even have heard of it. What a great reason to go and have a look. Guess what? It’s open Sunday morning. We depart at 9:00 and will be back before noon.
As always, please feel free to bring friends. This should be interesting!
Other great walks ahead. Read on!
Coming right up:
NEXT WEEK: Winter Stations!!!!!!!!!
If you were there last year, you know this will be terrific. TTC trip. Brunch. Good company. And wonderful things to see, on a snowy beach. I know, I was moaning about lack of snow. But, at least for the moment, there is snow. We’ll see what remains, next week. Either way, fascinating stuff!
After that: Our MEGAWalk takes place on Saturday, March 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 on the track. Indoors! (Lovely!) We’ll complete our 200 kilometres then. And we’ll celebrate. Hope you can join us. If you’ve been away, and want info about how to participate, please get in touch.
In the meantime, we have about 18km to walk, over the next two Sundays.
See you soon!
Are you reading about our club for the first time?
Welcome. You really should walk with us! See you in the morning!
