A pre-Valentine’s Day walk!
But first, about last week:
Short and sweet, we walked south to Mountain, a sculpture installation in little Simcoe Park, on Front Street. Guess who Simcoe Park is named for? If you guessed John Graves Simcoe (Ontario’s first Lieutenant Governor)… and his artist wife, Elizabeth, too… you’re correct. I’d hoped there would be a bit of snow dusting the ridges on the mountain sculpture, so was pleased when the snow began to fall, on our walk there. The light wind was whipping the snow into our eyes, but hey: we didn’t mind! A tasty treat and hot beverage at Quantum wrapped up our four-person walk, and everyone went their various ways, into the Sunday mid-day. Nice thing to do on a snowy morning! Thanks for the great winter walking company, everyone.

Sunday, February 12, 2017:
Meet at the Y LATER THAN USUAL. See you there at 10:00 a.m.
We’re taking the Valentine’s season chocolate wander again, just for fun. Hopefully, we will have that delightful cocoa-in-the-air scent from our neighbours on Gladstone. They still aren’t doing tours (apparently, no local chocolate factory does that anymore). But we can walk by and enjoy. Then we’ll see another chocolatey location or two or three. Finally, we’ll stop in one, for a chocolatey treat. I’d promised a visit to SOMA last week, but completely forgot that they don’t open until noon on Sundays. Sorry for that (though we made up for it nicely!). Anyway, this week, we’ll depart from the Y at 10, to make sure the timing works. A spicy SOMA hot chocolate is the main goal. Walking? Sure, we’ll do that, too.
If you’re away and travelling, we send you good wishes, and we miss you! Happy Valentine’s Day, and we hope to see you again soon.
If you will be back soon, there are a few very nifty walks just ahead.
COMING RIGHT UP:
Next week, we’ll go back to The Ward construction hoardings and explore a couple of other downtown sights. The following week, we’ll attend a very special Toronto farewell (more details on this, as it gets closer). The week after that, we’ll return to see the new season’s installations of “Winter Stations” and have a toasty brunch, in the beaches.
Please don’t forget about MEGAwalk! Mark your calendars now: Saturday. March 04, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the WEY, with our traditional, reviving snack afterwards! Register online, if you haven’t already, right here! (Join our team, WestWalking, if you like!)
Then, sign up for our great two-hour/10k walking event, at the front desk. Yes, you can do this last part by phone. Just call 416-536-9622, extension 500 and ask them to add you to the WALKING list in the Megathon binder. Thanks for joining us for that fun, and that important fundraising.
I know it’s the day before our Winter Stations walk. I’d be delighted if you could join us for BOTH! 🙂
Feel free to bring a friend or two along for any of these walks. We’ll see you soon.
You’re just finding WestWalking for the first time?!
Welcome. You really should walk with us!
See you Sunday!
