After seeing a video about author/researcher Dan Buettner‘s book, The Blue Zones, a terrific discussion ensued. Some had read the book. Others simply wanted to learn more about The Blue Zones – those places in the world where a healthy, active and fulfilling longevity seems most prevalent. Why those areas? Why those customs, traditions, interests, activities, diets? And why not HERE?
Most of us felt that a number of the principles explored in The Blue Zones were interesting. And accessible. And, just maybe: easy to undertake.
The Walking Club is a first step in our experiment. Let’s see if Toronto can become a blue zone, too. No rush. One step at a time.
If you love walking, this is an easy choice. Need to be more active, in order to feel better? Walking is the best place to start. Have trouble sticking with exercise “regimes”? Group exercise is ideal.
Want info? The interesting Blue Zones website has links, videos, study guide, recommendations, and more.
We’re not affiliated with author or book in any way. But we agree that we can all try to live a healthier, more active life. A bit of research won’t hurt. A bit of walking? Even better!
